This policy covers techiato.org. Techiato is a software studio based in Alexandria, Egypt.
Our own product, Omaraty, has its own separate policy, because it handles a different kind of data — building accounts, payments and receipts. Nothing described here applies to it.
The short version
We run our own analytics on this site. It uses no cookies, sets no cross-site identifier, and cannot follow you anywhere else on the web. We never see or store your IP address. We do not sell anything to anyone, and there are no advertising or third-party tracking scripts on this site.
What the site records
Every page load and a few interactions are recorded as anonymous events. For each one we store:
- the page you were on, and the language it was in
- the hostname of the site that referred you — the hostname only, not the full address
- utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign, if the link you followed carried them
- your country and city, as estimated by Cloudflare from the network you connect through. This is not GPS and is not precise
- your device type, browser and operating system, read from your browser's user-agent string
- how long you spent on the page, which sections you reached, and how far you scrolled
- clicks on links that lead away from the site — the Google Play listing, email, WhatsApp, phone, file downloads and videos
How you are counted, without being identified
To tell one visit from another we compute a short fingerprint: a SHA-256 hash of a secret value we hold, your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, and the current date in Cairo — truncated to twenty characters.
Your IP address is used to compute that hash and to rate-limit abuse. It is never written to our database, and the hash cannot be reversed back into it.
Because the date is part of the hash, it changes at midnight Cairo time. The same person visiting tomorrow is counted as a new visitor. There is nothing that persists across days, and nothing that could be matched against another website.
A separate random identifier groups the pages of a single visit together. It lives in your browser's sessionStorage and disappears when you close the tab.
What we do not do
- No cookies of any kind
- No advertising, remarketing, or audience-building
- No Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any third-party tracker
- No selling or sharing of data with anyone
- No profile that follows you between sites or between days
- No third-party requests when the page loads — our fonts are served from our own servers, not from Google Fonts
Automated traffic
Requests that identify themselves as crawlers, bots, monitors or link previewers are discarded at the edge. Nothing is stored for them.
How long we keep it
Analytics events are deleted automatically 400 days after they are recorded. A scheduled job runs nightly to remove anything older. We keep the window that long so we can compare a year against the year before it.
Where it is processed
The site and its analytics run on Cloudflare's network, and the events are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. Cloudflare processes this data on our behalf as our infrastructure provider. Access to the analytics dashboard is limited to Techiato and protected by a password.
Opting out
You can switch analytics off for yourself, in your own browser. Open your browser's developer console on this site and run:
localStorage.setItem('ta-optout', '1')The site will stop recording anything from that browser immediately. The setting stays until you clear your browser storage. Blocking scripts or using a content blocker works just as well — nothing on this site depends on analytics to function.
When you email us
The contact links on this site open your own email client; they do not submit anything to us in the background. If you do write to us, we keep the correspondence so we can reply to it and pick up the conversation later. We use it for that and nothing else — no newsletter, no list, no passing it on.
Your choices
Because we hold no identifier that can be traced back to a person, we cannot look up "your" analytics data — there is nothing that connects those events to you, which is the point of collecting them this way. If you have emailed us and would like that correspondence deleted, write to us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top changes too. We will not quietly start collecting more than is described here.
